Mindful Awareness Practices (MAPs) are the signature educational programs of the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. This class series is open to the public. The classes lay the foundation to understand basic principles of mindfulness, develop a personal meditation practice, and to apply the principles in their daily life on an ongoing basis. Each class is a combination of education, practice, and group feedback and discussion. MAPs is taught in the context of a supportive community environment. Students report that learning in a group is one of the most helpful and inspiring aspects of the class. These online classes meet live for 2 hours, once per week, for 6 weeks. CE units available. Class size ranges from 6-20 participants.
MARC UCLA MAPs classes offer skills training in relaxation and mindfulness meditation methods that often involve working with thoughts, feelings and body sensations to help participants bring awareness to and manage their internal and external responses. I understand that if for any reason I am unable to or think it unwise to engage in these techniques and exercises during these classes or at home, I am under no obligation to engage in these techniques, nor will I hold MARC UCLA or the teacher’s liable for any injury incurred from these exercises.
I also understand MARC UCLA programs are educational and are not clinical treatment and if I need medical, psychological or psychiatric health intervention or assistance, it is my responsibility to seek these services.
Silver Lake Mindfulness reserves the right to cancel a class or event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If Silver Lake Mindfulness cancels an event you’ve registered for, you will be offered a full refund.
My registration for this class indicates my understanding of the above.
